Good morning, Warrior Family.
Praying everyone is doing well and staying strong as we begin
to see glimmers of light at the end of the tunnel. In these times of crisis and chaos, peace and hope are such precious commodities. And no one can give us peace and hope like God through His Son, even during these uncertain times.
Paul reminds us in Ephesians that not only does Christ bring us peace, but He IS our peace (Ephesians 2:14). Let’s keep Christ at the center and trust that He will be our peacemaker and comforter through these frightening times.
Last week the Governor extended the stay-home mandate until May 15th. While this decision does not really change what we are currently doing, it does prevent us from making a definitive decision about senior graduation and prom. We were really hoping to at least set dates and times at this point. We are not surrendering the idea of having both of these prestigious events in person at some point in the near future.
We will give vital information about several of the upcoming events in this update.
As much as we would like to make decisions today in regards to graduation, we want to wait until May 11th when it is possible that the governor may change the restrictions on gatherings. It is our heart to have a traditional graduation even it means pushing it back to late June or early July. We appreciate everyone being supportive and patient about these decisions.
We will also wait to make a final decision on Senior Chapel as we would like to have a live traditional chapel. We will notify everyone as updates become available.
We also want to wait to make a decision about prom until we get more information about lessening restrictions. I know all the high school staff and students are in favor of still having prom at some point. If we do not get favorable news about restrictions on May 11th, we may have to look for an alternate plan for prom.
We will have a virtual awards program this year. Coach Chuck Battaglia is already working on this program with all the HCS coaches. Once completed, we will post the program on our FACEBOOK and YouTube page.

We have been notified that Lifetouch has shut down their printing studio due
to COVID-19. Parents/students will still receive their packets when they resume printing, and
pictures are sent to school. If they are not able to print the pictures, then all picture packets
will be refunded.
Teacher Appreciation Week:
May 4 th – 8 th . We will have an opportunity for parents and
students to safely show their appreciation to our amazing teachers and staff. They have been
working so hard through these tough times to continue to provide the very best education to all
our students. We will have tubs out in front of the gym next week labeled with the names of
teachers and staff. We are asking our awesome warrior family to show their appreciation by
dropping off letters of thanks, encouragement, and/or appreciation gifts. Parents and students

The staff of Houma Christian School loves and misses all our students and parents dearly and
will rejoice in the day that we finally get to return to some sense of normalcy. Please continue
praying for our school, community, and country.
