Mission Statement

Designed with a purpose, fearfully and wonderfully made, we will pursue academic excellence and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Alma Mater

Houma Christian, strong and true.
We come together gray, white and blue.

Standing tall with Warrior pride,
Conquering all with God on our side.

Not by our strength, but His alone
Into our hearts His word is sewn.

Within these walls our memories lie,
The heart and soul of our Warrior cry.

As we leave behind our legacy,
Forever Warriors WE WILL BE!

Houma Christian School was founded by Pastor Rene Monette. Pastor Monette had a desire to offer a Christian education to the people of Houma, Louisiana. After noticing a school sign in Texas, Pastor Monette mentioned to his wife, Vicki, that if he ever opened a school he would name it Houma Christian School. From there, God placed a desire on Pastor Monette's heart. Houma Christian School was founded in 1984.

Houma Christian School is a part of the ministry of Living Word Church, a non-denominational Christian Church dedicated to the propagation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Admission to Houma Christian School is not determined on membership or participation in the ministry of Living Word Church

  • We believe

the Bible to be the inspired, the only infalliable, authoritative, inerrant Word of God. John 10:30, 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21.

  • We believe

that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30

  • We believe

in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 10:33), in His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14), His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26), in His miracles (John 2:11), in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7), in His bodily resurrection (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4), in His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:9), and in His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelations 19:11).

  • We believe

in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation. Because of the exceeding sinfuness of human nature, man is justified on the single ground of faith the shed blood of Christ and that only by God’s grace and through faith are we saved. John 3:16-21, 5:24, Romans 3:23, 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:5

  • We believe

in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is able to live a Godly life, that the ministry and indwelling of the Holy Spirit is available for every believer, and is not a prerequisite to salvation. John 14:16, Acts 1:5, 8, 2:2-4, 12:18

  • We believe

in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and that they are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. John 5:28-29

  • We believe

in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, no matter to which Bible-believing domination a person belongs, ever-seeking, together, to “become more and more in every way like Christ who is the head of His body, the church.” Ephesians 4:16

The Principal

Mr. James "Jimmy" Champagne

I have been in education for over 25 years, and God has planted a passion within me to work with young people. I graduated from Nicholls State University in 1992 with a degree in Health/PE and Biology and in 2004, I received my Masters in Supervision and Administration. I have tried several times through the years to leave education for better paying careers, but God has always opened and closed doors to ensure I was fulfilling His plan and not mine. I have been serving as principal of Houma Christian School for the past eight years. I am so blessed to be a part of the HCS and Living Word Church family and look forward to many more years as a Warrior.
